Akin Lewis is a Nigerian actor and producer who was born on April 7, 1957, in Oyo State but raised in Lagos State.

Akin Lewis received his primary and secondary education in Lagos before enrolling at the University of Ife (OAU), where he earned his bachelor’s degree.

Following that, he was awarded a scholarship to pursue his Masters in Dramatic Arts at a university in Sophia, Bulgaria.

Akin Lewis began acting in 1973, the same year he joined a drama group led by Nigerian writer and dramatist professor Bode Sowande. In 2005, he shot to fame after appearing in the film Madam Dearest.

Throughout the years, he has appeared in, produced, and directed a number of films. In 2008, he appeared in Tinsel, a Nigerian soap opera, and in Heroes and Zeroes, a Nigerian film written by Niyi Akanni.

He won the Audio Visual Awards (TAVA) for best actor in October 2010. In December 2013, he celebrated his 40th year on stage.
